Why be quiet?
Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay, is a city of contradictions, construction and collapse. Its lungs breathe gasoline and diesel, its blood cells are its approximately twenty-two million inhabitants, who are in constant, unstoppable motion. Its sinews and muscles are steel and concrete, its nervous system never in a state of rest – except, sometimes, in the expanse of the Arabian Sea that surrounds the city.
As part of the larger whole of India, Mumbai remains unique, a muse for the nightmares and dreamscapes for the entire country. You can feel however you like about the city, but there is no escaping its chthonic, chaotic, savagely urban yet deeply soulful, brutalist heartbeat.
In the context of this vivacious, relentless environment, it’s easy to get lost and fade away if you don’t roar, shriek, scream and otherwise celebrate the joy of loud.
Founded in 2013, this is exactly what Animal Factory Amplification set out to do. We are a small team of misfits committed to the art and craft of unquiet. We do this by building unique, individualistic and irreverent pedals, Eurorack modules and other audio devices.
Our Mission Statement “Why be quiet?” sums up not just our approach to sounds, but also the attitude that, in our opinion, an Indian music hardware brand should espouse.
Our objective is to help our users find themselves in the outer edges of sonic landscapes. For people who reject subtlety, are not afraid to explore, deviate and gaze into the aural abyss, we create devices that they never want to turn off. We’re truly honoured that our users include some true originals and pioneers – for a pedal brand out of India, this is not something to be taken for granted.
And that last part is important – it’s impossible to separate our work from where we do it. As the flag bearers for modern electronic music devices in the subcontinent, we push ourselves to always build things better and steadfastly defy expectations. By focusing on extreme sounds, beautiful visual design and premium build quality, we work relentlessly to create a well-deserved place for India on the global map of music hardware.
